Ks for Katoke 2021

In 2020 the Katoke Trust set you a challenge. Would you take the journey to school alongside the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School students each day? You rose to that challenge and together we travelled thousands of kilometres and raised over $50,000 to provide the vulnerable in Tanzania with education, assistance in farming and much needed medical care.

This year, we are DOUBLING DOWN! Here’s the 2021 Ks for Katoke challenge…

How to get involved
Register before the end of May…. then RUN, REACH & RAISE in June.

1. RUN, RIDE, WALK OR SWIM
RUN, walk or get active this June. Set yourself a goal! Set yourself a distance (km) or time target (mins).
Think about a distance or an amount of time that you can commit to each day for the month of June. Remember to set an achievable but challenging goal! In 2020, we had people walk for 20 days in June, run 200km over the month, or even cycle 200km in one day. You can set a goal that is as long or short as you like, but be creative, be courageous and take care.

2. REACH OUT
Tell your friends and family that you are participating in Ks for Katoke and ask them to help. Help us to double the number of runners and riders by asking them if they would join you in the challenge, you could even build a team of friends or family to participate and to raise funds together!!

3. RAISE
This End of Financial Year we are boldly challenging ourselves to raise one hundred thousand dollars in order to continue our life changing work in Tanzania. Together we can reach this goal! So set a fundraising target (you can find some ideas below) and ask your networks to help you reach it!

How you will be supporting those in need

The Trust established the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School to meet the great need for secondary education in Tanzania. Through your ongoing support we have educated over a thousand students in the last 12 years. 

In 2020, local families who were previously able to enrol their children have faced significant financial hardship. There are now many children who will only be able to continue their secondary education if we are able to raise funds to sponsor them. 

The cost of education in Katoke can be distilled down to one simple number. 1 3 2 0. 

It costs $1,320 to provide one student with accommodation, food, health care and education at KLSS each year. $1,320 can change a life. Could you raise the funds to support a child this year? Or if you’re prepared to think big, could you raise the funds to support a child for the entirety of their secondary education? 

We certainly believe you can.
