About Us

History: educate, care, grow.

Since its beginnings in 1998 the Katoke Trust for Overseas Aid has had a significant impact on the Katoke region of Tanzania in education, health care and the growth of cash crops.

In education, primary schooling and instruction at the Katoke Teachers College have been improved. Scholarships have been given for primary and secondary school students, for vocational training and for tertiary studies. The largest current project is establishing a secondary school which opened in April 2009 and has great demand for its services. In health care, a medical centre has been built and the prevalence of malaria and HIV AIDS has been reduced. In growth of cash crops, vanilla and an improved variety of palm oil have been introduced.

Who we are

We are a small but dedicated group of volunteers with a sense of Christian motivation who are passionate about the elimination of poverty in this region. As we are a grass-roots organisation, and all participants are volunteers, virtually 100% of the money raised through donations goes straight back into our projects.
